Who needs a visa to enter Ukraine?
Three entry routes
There are three routes, and yours is determined by your passport and your purpose of travel: visa-free — for citizens of the countries on the relevant list, e-Visa — online issuance for designated countries and purposes, and a consular visa of type C or D — for every other case. Route 1: visa-free
If your country is on the visa-free list, a valid passport is enough for a short trip: the stay is governed by the 90/180 rule. Check whether your country is on the list, and note: visa-free covers tourism and short visits, but not work.
Route 2: e-Visa
Some countries without visa-free access can obtain the e-Visa online — no consulate visit. Eligibility and the list of matching travel purposes are in the e-Visa country list.
Route 3: consular visa
If the first two routes are not yours — you apply at a consulate: type C for short trips or type D for work, study, volunteering or family reunification. What everyone needs, whatever the route
A war-risk insurance policy for the entire stay is a condition of entry for all visitors. It can be bought online in a few minutes. It is also wise to carry proof of your purpose of travel — border officers are entitled to ask for it.
If your country is on neither list
This is not a dead end: the consular visa is the universal route, available to citizens of any country through the Ukrainian diplomatic mission serving your state. Start with choosing the visa type.
