Policy duration for Ukraine: the 3-to-180-day rules
The range and the rule
The policy is issued for 3 to 180 days. But the number that matters is not the term you pick — it is the rule the term must satisfy: cover every day of the stay, from the day of entry to the day of exit inclusive. That rule is what border officers check, and it is why the requirement exists at all.
Setting the dates — the practical cases
- A short hop below the minimum still takes a 3-day policy — the floor is the product's, not your itinerary's.
- An ordinary trip: policy start = entry day, policy end = exit day, set at purchase in two clicks.
- Plans that might stretch: err longer. A policy that ends mid-trip fails the requirement on the day it lapses; unused tail days just expire quietly.
- Stays beyond 180 days: cover them with consecutive policies, arranged so the next term starts when the current one ends — plan the sequence before the first policy runs out, not after.
If plans change: your withdrawal right
Under the published terms you may withdraw from the contract within 30 days of conclusion with a refund of the premium — the exception is contracts concluded for less than 30 days, where the right does not apply. The procedure is in the insurer's published terms ↗ ↗. Cancelled trip, changed dates — withdraw and re-issue rather than travel with dates that no longer match.
Dates interact with everything else
The term you set carries the rest of the policy with it: what is covered applies within those dates, the territorial boundary applies within those dates, and a claim is assessed against them. A right policy with wrong dates is a wrong policy.
The one-line takeaway
Pick the term last: itinerary first, entry and exit days fixed, then a term that swallows both ends — with margin if anything about the plan is soft.
Frequently asked questions
What terms is the policy issued for?+
From 3 to 180 days — with the governing rule that the term must cover the entire stay, entry day to exit day inclusive.
My trip is shorter than 3 days — what do I buy?+
A 3-day policy: the minimum is the product's floor. The extra days simply go unused.
What if I stay longer than 180 days?+
Cover the stay with consecutive policies, planned so each next term starts as the current one ends — arrange the sequence before the first policy lapses.
Can I cancel the policy if the trip falls through?+
Yes — within 30 days of conclusion with a premium refund, except for contracts concluded for less than 30 days, per the published terms.
Should I round the dates up or down?+
Up. Unused covered days cost little; a single uncovered day fails the entry requirement.
