Ukraine e-Visa validity: 30 days, single or double entry

Published 28.07.2026✓ Reviewed 29.07.20262 min read
Short answer
The Ukraine e-Visa is issued as a single-entry or double-entry visa for a stay of up to 30 days, across six purpose categories: business, private visit, tourism, medical treatment, cultural-scientific-educational-sports, and foreign mass media. Single entry is spent the moment you leave Ukraine — even briefly; double entry exists for itineraries with one planned exit and return. The choice is made at application and cannot be changed after issue: a new trip pattern means a new application. The e-Visa is presented at the border as a printed hard copy with the passport and kept for the whole stay. Information valid as of 28 July 2026.

The format in one view

Per the official e-Visa portal ↗ ↗ (information valid as of 28 July 2026), the e-Visa comes in one duration — a stay of up to 30 days — and two entry formats: single or double. It serves six purposes: business, private visit, tourism, medical treatment, cultural/scientific/educational/sports, and foreign mass media. Whether your passport qualifies is a separate question; the fee difference between the formats is covered here.

Single entry: one door, once

A single-entry e-Visa is spent the moment you leave Ukraine — any exit, however brief, closes it. There is no re-entry on the same document, and no way to "reactivate" it. If your itinerary touches a neighbouring country even for a day, single entry is the wrong format.

Double entry: one planned exit and return

Double entry exists exactly for the itinerary above: enter, leave once, come back — all within the visa's validity and the 30-day stay. It is the honest choice when your plans include one side trip or a split stay. More complex patterns outgrow the e-Visa entirely: look at a regular visa instead — the comparison is here.

Chosen at application, fixed at issue

The entry format is selected in the application form and printed into the issued visa. It cannot be upgraded afterwards — a changed trip pattern means a new application with a fresh document set. Decide the format from the itinerary you will actually fly, not the one you hope to simplify.

Using it at the border

The e-Visa is presented as a printed hard copy together with the passport, and you keep it for the entire stay — what border officers check, and in what order. And the parallel requirement stands for every day of those 30: insurance with war-risk cover issued for your exact dates.

Frequently asked questions

How long can I stay on a Ukraine e-Visa?+

Up to 30 days, in single-entry or double-entry format. Information valid as of 28 July 2026 per the official source.

What happens to a single-entry e-Visa if I leave briefly?+

It is spent. Any exit from Ukraine closes a single-entry visa — there is no re-entry on the same document.

When should I choose double entry?+

When your itinerary includes exactly one planned exit and return within the validity — a side trip to a neighbouring country or a split stay.

Can I change single to double after the visa is issued?+

No. The format is fixed at issue — a changed pattern requires a new application. More complex itineraries call for a regular visa.

How is the e-Visa presented at the border?+

As a printed hard copy together with your passport — and you keep the printout for the whole stay.
